Dear Carl,
Well, it looks
like yet another continuance for my trial. The prosecution's request for the trial
to be continued landed us on Dec. 2 at 9:00 a.m. But my lawyer cannot make it on
that day, so now we've requested that it be continued again.
I've been notified that the state has found an
expert witness. It is Dr. Weiss of the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. We
are going to take his deposition prior to trial, but I was wondering if you have heard of
him, and, if so, what you might know about him.
I wish I had a doctor that is more willing to
testify than Dr. Verduyn. If I don't find one, I guess I'll have to subpoena him to
say under oath what he said to me privately. I hate to have to force the issue, but,
so far, he looks like the only alternative available.
My lawyer is still playing phone tag with Eric
Sterling, so has not spoken with him yet. It is, however, one of his priorities.
He also mentioned that someone named Tanya from national NORML has called him, and
is trying to contact her as well. I can't thank you enough for all the support,
Carl.
I got a chance to check out the web site on a
friend's computer the other day. Cool! I did notice that on my 11/12 letter,
at the end of the first paragraph where it says "... can him ..." it should read
"... call him for help ..." Maybe you could fix that up. Thanks.
I'll let you know, once again, when the trial
will be. We'll get there one of these times.
Sincerely,
Eric Twesme
P.S. My lawyer said today that they're going to try to nip these (medical marijuana) cases in the bud, starting with mine - to make an example. Oh well, if we're going to make a paradigm shift, somebody's got to do it, right? I figured they'd make it into something like this.
