DRUGS SOLD TO PUPILS
____________
Rochester Peddlers Are Said to Accost Them After School.
____________
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 2.-- Narcotics are being sold to school children here by
peddlers who canvas the ranks of pupils when they are dismissed, according to Percy
Wentworth, a drug addict, who has been sentenced to serve six months in the Monroe County
penitentiary on a charge of vagrancy.
The traffic here, Wentworth said, was greater than ever before. He said he began using "the stuff" as a school boy, when foreigners accosted him and offered narcotics at a nominal sum. An investigation to ascertain the truth of the statements was ordered by the chief of detectives.
Police today admitted that there was an increasing list of drug addicts in the city.
